THESIS #01: Robustness of distributed algorithms for data aggregation in wireless sensor networks

ANNOTATION: Wireless sensor networks are a significantly vulnerable technology to various threats as well as negative factors from the adjacent environment. Some faults in these networks can cause serious damage or even prevent the whole system from functioning properly. Thus, one can see a great interest in this topic over the past few years. The goal of this Ph.D. thesis is to analyze distributed algorithms for data aggregation in faulty scenarios typical for wireless sensor networks, propose novel algorithms with high natural robustness in various faulty scenarios, and propose complementary mechanisms to guarantee the correct operation of the algorithm in spite of various faults (e.g., link failures, incorrect sensor readings, quantization noise, etc.).
